Total Commander 7.5 Public Beta 5 is available here.
This is mainly a bugfix release. Please install beta 5 as soon as possible if you were using one of the older beta versions! ZIP archives where files have both a Unicode extra field and AES-encryption could become corrupted when adding more files to them. Please contact me by e-mail if you have this problem, there is a way to still extract such files.

After a long break Total Commander PowerPack is alive again and the latest version 2.0 beta has just been released. The most important news:
- the latest version of Total Commander 7.50 public beta 3
- the possibility of settings and ftp connections import from already installed version of program during installation of TCPP,
- new main menu, additional button bars and new tools,
- VB scripts to automate some operations and to add new features to the program,
- new keyboard shortcuts,
- new installer with the option of integration with Windows Explorer, program startup, integration with autoplay feature,
- renaming files and directories
This is a beta version because it is based on the test version of Total Commander and it may also have some errors itself. The most revolutionary feature has not been included in this version yet but it will be added in the final version.
I invite you to download and testing. Any comments, suggestions or errors please report to the forum.
Note: This is a completely new version, and it is not possible to make upgrade from version 1.7. That's why you should install it in a new directory. There will be upgrade option in next versions of program.

- Full Unicode support in most functions where it is possible, including FTP, ZIP packer, and plugin interfaces
- Support for file names longer than 259 characters (up to 1022) in most file operations
- Compare by content allows to compare text files of different type, e.g. Ansi and UTF-8
- The current directory above the file lists can act as a clickable bar ("breadcrumb bar")
- Option to show *.bar file in button bar as a popup menu instead of switching bars
- Show icons and subfolders in ftp connection dialog
- Protect the stored ftp passwords with a master password using AES256 encryption
- FTP, PORT mode: Allow to specify external IP address of the Internet router
- Start Lister, compare by content or synchronize dirs directly via command line parameters
- Comments (Ctrl+Z) can now have a max. length of 4095 characters, and support line breaks

This update mainly corrects an error in the delete function: It could delete the file under the cursor instead of the selected files if the current directory was changed in the background while the delete confirmation dialog was up (only when the function "Auto-Refresh when the file system changes" was active). It also corrects problems with unpacking multi-volume RAR files, AES encryption on NT4, and an access violation when starting minimized to the system tray. We recommend that you install the update as soon as possible!

F4Menu - pops up a context menu upon pressing F4, the user then chooses an appropriate editor for the selected file,
ForceDel - command line utility to close and delete a file which is locked by another process,
IrDA - allows for connecting phones and other devices using IrDA,
Media Audio - supporting Media Transfer Protocol (also called MTP or PlaysForSure). This is a transfer protocol designed by Microsoft, basically for copying music to portable mp3 players,
MhtUnPack - plugin that allows to extract resources stored in Microsoft's MHT files,
MP3Commander - plugin is designed to quickly access the MP3 collection at a central point within Total Commander,
Photofile - plugin allows for copying photo-files that are contained in photo-albums of some WWW sites,
Reginfo - plugin shows additional file information fields,
SynMinus - plugin with unicode support and syntax highlighting,
TC_Log_Viewer - opens Total Commander logging file and show its contents.

As reported in the German forum (and confirmed by the author of TC), the function "synchronize dirs" copies files to wrong subdirectories in RC2. The error was caused by a change in the sync tool which was made to fix unpacking of RAR archives.
A new release candidate will be released soon. Do not use RC2 for synchronizing with FTP in the meantime!

This version corrects an error in the re-packing of RAR archives to other formats. The error can cause data loss under very special conditions (external Un-RAR, subdirectory etc.). A history of changes is really large and as it's change from version 6 to 7 (previous so big step from 5 to 6 we had 3 years ago!) we can expect many great surprises. There are additional forums for public testing of TC7 public beta. So let's start testing!
There is an alternative Polish translation available for download, too.
Total Commander Ultima Prime 2.0 has been released, too.

New version of Total Commander 6.55a was released! Application is available in download page as standard version.
This isn't really an update to the program, it just corrects a problem with the ZIP auto-exctraction module, which stopped working under Windows XP. The main program still shows 6.55 as its version number! The problem is described at Ghisler's page.
If you already have Total Commander 6.55, please get just the fix from here!

Total Commander Ultima Prime 1.8 released. After longer break I've updated download section. I've added tools ChooseMediaPlayer 1.51 which allow to choose media player for selected files, TCFavMenu 1.1 which is standard Open/Save dialog enhancer and application launcher, TrID 2006.08.21 which allow to identify file types from their binary signatures. I've added WLX plugins: CBxThumbs 0.1 beta which permit to see thumbnails from *.cbz files, EdLoader 0.4 allow to load external editor for selected file and WDX plugin NicePaths 1.00 which increase the readability of paths in search results. I've updated other files too.
